I only
knew Mike via his photos, stories and
e-mails, but he has left me with an everlasting impression of a great American hero. He
never forgot the special bond he had with the
"Yards"
and after the war, he carried on helping them as
much as he could. He loved travelling and
on one of his trips to Vietnam
he went back to the place that his old SF camp Ha
Thanh stood on. There, after 42 years, he was recognized
by one
of the old camp medics who still lived there.
You have got to be a special type of person
to be recognized after all that time!
I feel
very privileged and proud to have been entrusted
with some of Mike's Vietnam memories
and like all of you, I will miss him very
much.
My
thoughts are with his family at this difficult
time.
If
you would like to say a few words in memory of
Mike,
please get in touch and I will post them on this
page.
